This is one of my absolute favourite ‘lines’ from the website I mentioned in my last post. Completely blew my mind. Not because I don’t agree (I do agree), but rather because no one talks about consent. At least not in the context of day to day life and stable relationships. Mostly what I hear about is consent re:horrifically violent rape (the kinds of cases that go to court and are somewhat publicized). Rarely do I see talk of the fact that being in a relationship doesn’t mean Unquestioned Consent No Matter What laid out so plainly.
