Based on the fact that there were two op ed pieces on abortion today on El Espectador, I’m going to assume there has been legislation introduced/some sort of legislative attack on abortion rights in Colombia in the past week, though I’m not sure. Anybody know something about this? Anyway, I liked the piece. Particularly the bit about how the obligation of governmental representatives is to work in the name of the common good, not in the name of their own personal values/morals/religious beliefs (bolded), and how in the case of abortion, it isn’t just some sort of moral question, it’s a public health and safety issue. And, while clearly she is writing about Colombia and the politics of Colombia, it’s relevant elsewhere.
